Basic Training Refresher

STCW Refresher

Course Duration: 3 Days (24Hours)

This USCG approved 24-hour Basic Training (STCW) Refresher course is for all seafarers who already have a Basic STCW certificate and must take the compulsory refresher course (once every 5 years).


During the STCW Basic Safety Training refresher course your memory will be refreshed on how to act in various emergency situations on board of a ship.


The training consists of refreshing the Personal Survival Techniques, Elementary First Aid, Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities, and Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting modules. The objective of this course is to provide appropriate recurrent training or instruction to survive at sea in the event of ship abandonment.


Mariners who successfully complete this Basic Training Refresher course will satisfy the continued competency requirements of the 2010 Amendments to the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) code for Basic Training in Section A-VI, 46 CFR 11.302(e) and 46 CFR 12.602(e) AND, all of the tasks from the National Assessment Guidelines found in NVIC 08-14.

What you need to bring:
• Swimsuit for the pool session
• Comfortable clothing
• Clothing that can be worn into the pool in addition to a swimsuit
• Clothes that are suitable for firefighting class
• Closed toed shoes
• Students to be clean shaven in order to ensure a proper seal with the self-contained
breathing apparatus
