The PMN elastase ELISA ab119553 has not, to our knowledge, been used to test sputum samples, but it will in theory be compatible with that sample type. The question is whether the assay will be sensitive enough to detect the amounts of elastase present in sputum, and also whether the elastase epitopes that the antibodies in the ELISA detect are intact, and not degraded by proteases.

1- Can ab119553 be used to detect Elastase in Human blood serum samples? 2- Can this kit work well for Elastase detection using Human serum samples obtained by blood collected in vials containing a special gel that separates blood cells from serum + centrifugation which has been stored in a Freezer -70oC since collection?
Thank you for contacting us and your interest in our products.I am sorry but having looked into it, we are unfortunately not able to provide the standard or high/low samples for the PMN Elastase Human ELISA kit (ab119553) separately. We do however have a number of protein preparations which may be of interest to you to serve as standards in your assay. These can be accessed from the following link: =searchresults&search=Neutrophil Elastase&pt=2&sk=targ&sv=Neutrophil Elastase&sn=Neutrophil Elastase&l=2&fViewMore=1If you would like any assistance in choosing which protein may be suitable please could you provide a little more information about your experiment? The antibodies you hope to use with it?I hope this information has been of help. If I can be of any further assistance, please do let me know.
I am interested in purchasing the capture and detection antibodies and the standard used in this ELISA kit: -Elastase-Human-ELISA-kit-with-color-giving-dyes-ab119553.html Will you tell me the catalog numbers for the antibodies and standard?
I have a question regarding ab119553 Human PMN Elastase ELISA Kit. I noticed that the ELISA is based on detecting human PMN elastase/a1-PI complexes. Does it mean that the standard is also lyophilized PMN elastase/alpha 1-PI complex standard? Thanks for you reply in advance.
Thank you for contacting Abcam regarding ab119553. I can confirm that this kit will only recognize the complex of PMN elastase/alpha 1-PI complex standards and also our standard is lyophilized complex. I hope this information is helpful. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any additional questions.
